Champagne Martini recipe
Making a drink with Champagne and vodka isn’t that uncommon! We have loads of delicious options you can mix up at home when you’re in the mood for love (or a drink that sparkles). We love the Champagne Martini for its sophistication and lustre. Also, it helps that it is quick and easy to make at home but still looks extra impressive. Romance isn’t dead yet!
How to serve a Champagne Martini
Classically, the Champagne Martini is served in a chilled martini or coupe glass with a sugared rim and a garnish of a singular maraschino cherry. When it comes to the garnish, you can swap out the cherry for a strawberry, add a small amount of lemon zest to the sugar before rimming the glass, and add a few cranberries or raspberries. To make it a little fruitier, add some raspberry or strawberry puree to the glass before adding the Champagne.
If you’re making our classic version of the Champagne Martini, we suggest you serve some romantic dishes on the side, such as fresh oysters. For a girl’s night in or extra classy brunch, serve it with tasty small plates with lots of fresh and zesty flavours.
How to choose a good Champagne
This question could be debated for hours. Our suggestion is this: try a few and choose your favourite. Good Champagne should taste mellow, creamy, and crisp. If you don’t have the budget to be a luxurious Champagne taster, go for option two: look for a Brut or Extra Brut. You’ll see this on the label. For this drink with Champagne and vodka, steer clear of the sweet stuff. Final tip? Because you are mixing this with vodka and creating a cocktail, there is no need to get the high-shelf brands. Keep those for special Champagne-only occasions instead. Read our complete guide to Champagne for more tips and tricks.
How strong is a Champagne Martini?
At around 40 % ABV (if you’re using two ounces of vodka), this martini with Champagne is quite potent. If we had to compare apples to apples, expect a drink that’s the same strength as a Cosmopolitan cocktail. If you had to use only one ounce of vodka, it’s the same strength as a Grasshopper.
The Different Champagne Martini Variations
There are delicious twists you can give this Champagne Martini recipe. These are four of our faves.
- Pomegranate Champagne Martini: Make these with 60ml pomegranate juice, 22ml SKYY Vodka, 15ml Grand Marnier and 30ml Champagne.
- Bellini Martini: Add 30ml vodka, raspberries and a lemon wheel to your classic Bellini recipe. Apparently, Bill Gates is a fan!
- Millionaires Martini: Speaking of wealthy people, make this drink if you want to impress. It’s a simple but delicious mix of dry gin, Cinzano Extra Dry vermouth and Champagne. Classy!
- Flirtini: Planning a date? Surprise your better half with this tasty summer cocktail. Made with vanilla vodka, Champagne and fresh pineapple juice – as seen on the hit series Sex and the City.
