Two Rosita cocktails with orange twist garnish served with a plate of nachos

It would be easy to say the Rosita is just a tequila Negroni but that wouldn’t do it justice. It’s a multicultural marvel that captures the spirit of tequila’s heritage and marries it with complex flavours of European bitters and aromatics. Like many cocktails, its exact history is hazy, but it first appeared in the 1970s book, Mr. Boston Official Bartenders Guide. It saw a resurgence in the mid-2000s and is now the go-to Negroni riff for tequila lovers.

The Rosita is a blend of Campari, reposado tequila, and not one but two versions of vermouth—sweet and extra dry. It’s finished off with a dash of bitters for balance and the result is a one-of-a-kind cocktail. Every sip is a duality of earthy, spicy tequila and bitter, floral notes from the Campari and vermouths. It’s a modern-day classic and a must for any cocktail connoisseur.
