A simplistic image of a Gloria cocktail in a coupe glass with orange wheel garnish

Halfway between a Negroni and a Martini, The Gloria is a Negroni with class, sass, and a lasting impression. Although it’s seen a resurgence in recent years, the origins of this mysterious lady are often disputed. Some say it first appeared in the 1947 edition of Trader Vic’s Bartender’s Guide, while others suggest it was created by French actress Marie Glory for a cocktail competition in 1929.

The Gloria features the classic Negroni lineup but with a few twists and turns. It has more gin, less Campari, dry vermouth instead of sweet, and a fragrant orange liqueur. The resulting blend is bittersweet with a luxurious body. It delivers a bouquet of citrus, floral, herbal, nutty, and wooded flavours that will leave you wanting more.

QUICK TIPS

-

For extra orange flavour, rub the peel around the rim of the glass before serving.
