This shaken Chocolate Martini uses only three ingredients—all in equal parts. So while it’s simple to make, you’ve got to use quality ingredients. If you use anything less than mid-range spirits and premium liqueurs, you’re gonna be disappointed, and so will your guests. And that’s the last thing anything chocolaty should do!

Easy to prepare, but hard to resist, the Chocolate Martini is perfect for when you’re short on time, but want to end your dinner party with a bang. So go on, treat yourself.

When is the best time to enjoy a Chocolate Martini ?

Chocolate Martinis are the ultimate after-dinner cocktails, as they make a perfect dessert. They can be adapted to anyone’s taste, for example using white chocolate liqueur for a milk chocolate version or horchata instead of chocolate liqueur.

Chocolate Martinis are also Valentine’s Day favorites, alongside Champagne and berry cocktails. The richness and warmth of chocolate also make this drink one of the best Christmas cocktails to enjoy during the festive season.

A cocktail made by Hollywood stars

The Chocolate Martini is a martini in name only, much like the Pornstar Martini and the Espresso Martini, but is nonetheless delicious. It’s said that it was invented by two actors, Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor, who both had a passion for chocolate and Martini. One night while filming Giant in 1955, they decided to add chocolate liqueur and syrup to a Vodka Martini. Hence the Chocolate Martini was born, and it’s been a staple dessert cocktail ever since.
